November: Celebrating Veterans Month

In honor of Veterans Month, AMIP proudly recognizes the invaluable contributions of our veterans, whose dedication and service are a foundation of strength within our communities. According to JobsOhio, Ohio ranks among the top states in the nation for military presence—a testament to the impact and influence of our servicemen and women.

AMIP is committed to supporting our veterans as they transition into fulfilling careers within advanced manufacturing. Through our targeted career programs and hiring initiatives, we strive to open pathways to skilled roles that value their unique talents and work ethic. In February, we’re excited to host our virtual Career Fair with National Association of Manufacturers specifically designed to connect veterans with opportunities in our manufacturing community.

First SuperRAPIDS Convening

AMIP RECOMMENDS $1MM FOR MANUFACTURING EDUCATION

On November 8th, Southwest Ohio manufacturers, industry associations, and educators gathered at Vaco's Blue Ash facility to advance an essential initiative aimed at bolstering Ohio’s electric vehicle (EV) and advanced manufacturing workforce. The invitation-only meeting brought together leaders from the Ohio Manufacturers Association, the Ohio Department of Higher Education, the Governor’s Office of Workforce Transformation, Southwest Ohio educational institutions, and some of the region’s most noteworthy manufacturing companies.

Calling for MFGs to Host Reading Educators

MAKE CONNECTIONS WITH TOP MANUFACTURING PROGRAM

In Spring Semester 2025, AMIP and Reading Schools are partnering on a new way to support manufacturing education. Pairs of educators from Reading Community School District, including classroom teachers, counselors, and workforce professionals, will be completely immersed in AMIP companies for a full school day, learning about career paths and preparing that information to share with students.

January Flexcamp Training for AMIP Members

ENROLL YOUR NEW HIRES IN OUR TRAINING BOOTCAMP

AMIP members, enroll your recent hires in our next Flexcamp, running Fridays from January 3rd to February 7th, 2025. Graduates will earn their Certified Manufacturing Associate (CMfgA) and return with a boost of knowledge in shop math, blueprint reading, measurements, communication skills, and more.

Lt. Gov. Husted Offers Grants for Teacher Bootcamps

HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTES ARE ELIGIBLE

ICYMI – Last week, Lt. Governor Jon Husted announced that the application period for Ohio’s Teacher Bootcamp Program opened (on November 1st) for institutions of higher education.

Teacher bootcamps bring educators into local businesses to help expose them to the in-demand career skillsets their communities need so they can better prepare students to be career ready upon graduation. The goal of the program is to incentivize teacher professional development while exposing teachers to career opportunities for their students in critical sectors like Advanced Manufacturing, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Broadband & 5G, Cybersecurity, Healthcare, Transportation, or more. A total of $500,000 is available through this program.
